Dress code for doctors?
First it was Crocs shoes being banned from hospitals because dangerous objects might fall through the holes in the shoes and harm the wearer. (Crocs is now making closed-toe shoes for medical personnel.) Now the U.K. is establishing a dress code for its doctors. No neckties (seldom cleaned, full of germs), long sleeves, jewelry, fake nails, or watches. All these items could harbor germs. The dress code will come into force next year and may include a new uniform that is made of antimicrobial fabric. Won't patients miss that traditional white doctor's coat?
