The USS Mesa Verde will be commissioned today in Panama City, Florida. Former Colorado Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell will speak at the ceremony. It's homeport will be Norfolk, Virginia.

In addition to the obvious connection to Colorado, another bit of trivia is that I once lived in Panama City.
