Can we easily find sites for our search on Civil War Generals by
burrowing down through the hierarchy? Let's see:
I first go to Yahoo! at http://www.yahoo.com.
Looking
over the category sections list, I don't see History as an option.
I'll have to try a category to see if history is a subcatagory.
Since Civil War Generals relates to the military, I'll try Government
> Military.
The next screen give me another list of subcatagory options. Again,
I need to make a choice to drop down another level in the hierarchy.
My choices include Countries, Ethics, History@, News and Media,
and Veterans.

Notice that already Yahoo! is parsing out sites. Under the subcatagory
listing are three sites. These sites fall under the Government >
Military category, and cannot be subcatagorized any more (at least
according to the Yahoo! staff)
Another thing to note is the '@' after the History subcatagory.

Yahoo! uses the '@' to indicate that the subcatagory is actually
part of another category path.
Finally, after some categories is a number in (). That number tells
me the possible number of sites OR subcategories the next level
down.
I think I will find information about Civil War Generals in the
History category, so I'll click the History@ link.

Now I've jumped over to the Military History section. Yahoo! crosslinks
categories a lot, so at the tope of each page is the hierarchy path.
This helps me know where I'm at.
This section has a subcatagory called Wars. The Civil War was a
war, so I'll try that path.
Look
at all these wars! And there is the Civil War. I think I'm getting
closer. I'll click on U.S Civil War@ (remember - an '@' means I'll
be jumping categories).
