Saturday we went up to Eaton, Colorado with our friends to visit an "honest-to-goodness" pumpkin patch and pick out future Halloween Jack-o-Lanterns. The entire trip was lovely and we all had a great time.

A belated Halloween story
I had only 3 trick-or-treaters at my door last night. One was a little guy dressed as Curious George. The other two were pre-teens wearing George Bush masks, with devil horns added on top. Good thing I didn't invest in much candy. I gave away little boxes of raisins instead.

I thought I carved a lot of pumpkins for halloween, but this guy carved 3000 for this year!
Ric Griffith, the man behind the famous Kenova Pumpkin House, has carved over 25,000 pumpkins since 1978. Every year, he puts thousands of carved jack-o-lanterns on the porch, roof, and yard of his 115-year-old Victorian house. Its kind of like a pumpkin wonderlandMore pictures of the house here.

We got these from a farm up by Eaton, Colorado. It started raining hard when we got to the field, so it was a muddy dash to get them loaded up. But at $1/pumpkin, the price was right!

Happy Halloween!
The Great Old Pumpkin - a spooky take on a holiday classic. Goes quite well with this comic Pumpkin Slash 2006 Tonight we invited Mom and our friends Eric, Tertia, and their 3 year old daughter Addie over to carve pumpkins and have dinner. Cameo made a tasty "Mummy Wrap Soup" (an egg drop & chicken soup) and we cut up some gourds. Ben has been working on a "swe A Horrible Edward Gorey Death Spooky Sock Monkeys! So awesome.
Never too early to start planning... Note to self: Review some projects on the Monsterlist of Halloween Projects for this year's yard decorations.
